All That Glitters Isn't Gold - Sometimes It's Silver!

Gold is the gold standard of precious metals. But silver is also a precious metal that can serve as both a store of value and a tangible asset - all for a much lower entry cost.

Just like the Gold Eagle and Gold Maple coins, for example, there are Silver Eagles and Silver Maples. They may not be as glamourous as gold, but they're still shiny!

When the United States went off the gold standard (gradually between 1933 and 1971), why didn't they think of just adding silver to the vault? (It was a little more complicated than that, but I'm just sayin'.)

Some Silver Facts:

Silver has natural antibiotic properties

Eating utensils were first made of silver for that reason

Generally much more affordable than gold

You can open a Silver IRA

Silver may not rise in value in perfect sync with gold, but their price trends are still somewhat correlated - although silver tends to fluctuate more than gold.

That can be exciting for anyone interested in high-frequency trading. But also, if you're just looking to buy some precious metals to keep for the long term, you might want to consider diversifying your portfolio with silver.
